Course Overview

This MSc is ideal for students with computing, engineering, or mathematics backgrounds who are seeking advanced understanding in AI and robotics. The programme focuses on the development of intelligent systems, including those that can learn, reason, and interact with physical environments.

Students will learn how to build autonomous agents, implement machine learning models, and control robotic hardware. The course culminates in a major individual project that allows you to explore an area of interest in-depth, supported by research-active staff and specialist facilities.

The course is delivered over three semesters: two semesters of taught modules followed by a summer dissertation/project period.

Assessment is by coursework, practical assignments, and a final dissertation. There are no formal written exams.

Admission Requirements

  • A UK honours degree (2:2 or above) in computer science, engineering, mathematics, physics, or a closely related subject
  • Equivalent overseas qualifications are accepted

English Language Requirements:

  • IELTS 6.0 (minimum 5.5 in each component) or equivalent
  • Applicants with previous degrees taught in English may be exempt

Relevant work experience or professional qualifications may also be considered for entry.
