About the Course

The BSc (Honours) in Biomedical Sciences at Newcastle University Medicine Malaysia is a dynamic and research-driven programme designed to provide students with a deep understanding of human biology, disease processes, and the science behind modern medical advances.

Based on the same rigorous curriculum as Newcastle University UK, this degree integrates laboratory training, research projects, and interdisciplinary learning to prepare students for careers in healthcare, diagnostics, pharmaceutical sciences, or further medical study.

Students will explore genetics, microbiology, pharmacology, anatomy, and biochemistry — with the option to specialise and pursue research in Year 3. Graduates receive a UK-accredited degree that opens doors to global opportunities in science and healthcare.

Why choose Biomedical Science at Newcastle?

Industry connected

Hands-on labs, placements, and research with biotech and healthcare partners in Malaysia and internationally.

Course Overview

Biomedical science is the study of the human body in health and disease. At NUMed, this course offers a comprehensive education in cell and molecular biology, human physiology, infectious disease, immunology, and the mechanisms underlying major health challenges.

Students develop critical thinking, lab techniques, and scientific communication skills essential for modern biomedical careers. Year 3 students undertake a supervised research project aligned with their interests and career goals.

The programme combines lectures, small-group teaching, lab practicals, and real research experiences.
