The Sarawak campus, located in Kuching, the capital of Sarawak, Malaysia, was founded in 2000. Initially named Swinburne Sarawak Institute of Technology, it gained university status in 2004, becoming Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus, a foreign branch campus of the Australian university recognized by the Malaysian Government. As a result, the university holds dual nationality, functioning as both an Australian and a Malaysian institution. Degrees granted are Australian, and the certificates are identical to those awarded in Australia.
