Course Overview
This course prepares you to work in multidisciplinary public health teams or pursue further academic research. You’ll explore a wide range of public health themes including health protection, epidemiology, health promotion, social determinants of health, and global health strategy.
Students completing the MPH undertake a substantial research project, while those opting for the PGCert study core modules over a shorter timeframe.
The course is ideal for medical and non-medical graduates alike—suited to those from clinical, healthcare, social science, and life science backgrounds.

Course Curriculum
MPH Structure:
- Semester 1: Core public health and research modules
- Semester 2: Advanced topics and electives
- Summer: Research dissertation
PGCert Structure:
- Study four core modules delivered between September and January

Admission Requirements
- A 2:2 honours degree or international equivalent in any discipline
- Relevant backgrounds include medicine, health sciences, life sciences, social sciences, or policy
English Language Requirements:
- IELTS 7.0 overall (minimum 6.5 in each component) or an approved equivalent
Professional or work-based experience in a health-related field is desirable, especially for applicants without a health-related academic background.
