- A Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university.
- The Bachelor’s degree must include sufficient study (typically at least 3 years or equivalent) in two distinct teaching areas relevant to the secondary school curriculum. Specific subject requirements will vary based on desired teaching areas (e.g., strong major in Mathematics for Maths teaching).
- A strong academic record, typically with a credit average (65% or equivalent) or higher.
- Non-academic requirements
- All applicants must undertake the national Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education (LANTITE).
- A Working with Children Check (WWCC) is mandatory for all professional placements.
