Course Overview
Architecture at UWE Bristol is a blend of creativity, critical thinking, and technical knowledge. You’ll explore design through hands-on projects, drawing, model-making, and digital techniques. Each year, you’ll complete studio-based design projects, increasingly complex and realistic in scope.
You’ll also learn about the role of architecture in society, cultural contexts, sustainability, building regulations, and technology—giving you a holistic understanding of the profession.

Design projects are assessed through portfolios and presentations. Coursework, written assignments, and practical work form the basis for assessment—there are no written exams.
Admission Requirements
- UK A Levels: 112–128 UCAS points (e.g., BBC–ABB)
- Sri Lankan A/L: 3 passes with strong performance in Maths or Design-related subjects
- IB Diploma: Minimum 28 points
Portfolio Requirement:
All applicants are required to submit a digital portfolio demonstrating creativity, visual communication, and design thinking.
English Language Requirements:
- IELTS 6.0 (minimum 5.5 in each component) or equivalent
