Course Overview

Architecture at UWE Bristol is a blend of creativity, critical thinking, and technical knowledge. You’ll explore design through hands-on projects, drawing, model-making, and digital techniques. Each year, you’ll complete studio-based design projects, increasingly complex and realistic in scope.

You’ll also learn about the role of architecture in society, cultural contexts, sustainability, building regulations, and technology—giving you a holistic understanding of the profession.

The course is delivered through studio-based projects, supported by lectures, seminars, workshops, and site visits.

Design projects are assessed through portfolios and presentations. Coursework, written assignments, and practical work form the basis for assessment—there are no written exams.

Admission Requirements

  • UK A Levels: 112–128 UCAS points (e.g., BBC–ABB)
  • Sri Lankan A/L: 3 passes with strong performance in Maths or Design-related subjects
  • IB Diploma: Minimum 28 points

Portfolio Requirement:
All applicants are required to submit a digital portfolio demonstrating creativity, visual communication, and design thinking.

English Language Requirements:

  • IELTS 6.0 (minimum 5.5 in each component) or equivalent
