Accredited by the Canadian Association for Social Work Education, TRU’s BSW prepares graduates for generalist professional practice in regional, national, and global contexts. Course Overview
Entry into Year 3 follows completion of 60 university credits, including English and foundational social work prerequisites. The 120-credit program includes at least 60 social work credits, 48 general university credits, and 12 discretionary or transfer credits
Course Duration
Full-time across 8 semesters (four years), with placements typically in Years 3 and 4. Part-time availability on a case-by-case basis

- Specialized electives: mental health (SOCW 4400), IPV (SOCW 4200), LGBTQIA+ practice (SOCW 4300)
- International field studies (SOCW 3300) and policy-focused modules
Admission Requirements
- Completion of 60 transferable credit hours (≥2.33 GPA), including ENGL 1100 (or equivalent) and SOCW 2060 & 2120 or HUMS equivalents
- Competitive entry; equity-seats reserved for Indigenous, racialized, and other equity-denied applicants
- Clear criminal record required for practicum placements

- Tuition approx. CAD 20,542/year, plus textbooks & student fees; housing/living costs (~CAD 5,380/year for international students)
