Course Overview
This integrated program develops your expertise in pharmacy practice, medicines management, pharmaceutical sciences, and social pharmacy within the health system. From the first year, you will build a strong foundation in chemistry, biology, physiology, anatomy, and the pharmacy profession itself. The honours component includes a supervised research project, deepening your analytical and research skills. You’ll gain comprehensive knowledge of drug discovery, dosage form design, and the ethical and professional aspects of pharmacy. The program culminates in extensive clinical placements, ensuring you are confident and job-ready.
Course Duration
The program has two duration options:
- 4 years of full-time study for students commencing in Semester 1 (February intake).
- 3.5 years of full-time study for students commencing in Semester 2 (July intake). Part-time study options may also be available.
Course Curriculum
The curriculum integrates theoretical learning with significant practical and clinical experiences. Key areas of study across the program include:

Students undertake over 600 hours of supervised clinical practice in a range of settings, including community pharmacies and hospital pharmacies, starting from the second semester of the first year. This includes two 6-week block placements in the final years.
Admission Requirements
To be eligible for the Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours) at UQ, applicants typically require:
- Academic: An ATAR (Australian Tertiary Admission Rank) of 80.00 (or equivalent selection rank) as a guaranteed entry score for 2026.
- Prerequisites: Successful completion of Queensland Year 12 (or equivalent) subjects at a C grade or higher in Units 3 & 4:
- General English
- Mathematical Methods or Specialist Mathematics
- Chemistry
- Biology is also recommended.
- English Language Proficiency (for international applicants):
- IELTS (Academic): Overall 6.5 with no band less than 6.0
- TOEFL iBT: Overall 87 with minimum sub-scores of Listening 19, Reading 19, Writing 21, Speaking 19
- PTE Academic: Overall 64 with no communicative skill score less than 60

Fees and Funding
For Domestic Students, this program is a Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP), meaning the Australian Government subsidises a significant portion of your tuition fees. You will pay a student contribution amount, which can be deferred through the HECS-HELP loan scheme. International Students pay full tuition fees directly to UQ. Additional costs may include textbooks, professional uniforms, vaccinations, and living expenses. UQ offers a range of scholarships and financial aid options for both domestic and international students based on academic merit, equity, or specific program interest.
