Course Curriculum

The Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) curriculum at RMIT is designed to provide a progressive learning experience, moving from foundational engineering principles to advanced specialised knowledge and professional application.

  1. Common Core Engineering (Year 1) All students undertake a common first year that introduces fundamental engineering concepts, problem-solving methodologies, mathematics, and science. This allows for exploration of different specializations before committing to a major.
  2. Specialization Deep Dive (Years 2-3) Students choose and delve into their specific engineering major. This includes advanced coursework, intensive laboratory work, and project-based learning relevant to their chosen field (e.g., Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, etc.).
  3. Advanced Professional Practice & Capstone (Year 4) The final year focuses on advanced professional practice, complex design challenges, and often a major capstone project. This project is typically industry-linked, allowing students to integrate all their learned skills to solve a significant engineering problem. Work-integrated learning experiences are also often a key component of the later years.
