Course Overview

The Bachelor of Creative Industries program at QUT offers an innovative and flexible learning experience that empowers students to customize their degree based on their creative passions and career aspirations. The curriculum combines core units in creative industries foundations (such as creative thinking, innovation, and industry contexts) with specialized studies in up to two chosen majors or extended minors. Course Curriculum

The Bachelor of Creative Industries curriculum is highly flexible, allowing students to combine a foundation in creative industries with one or two specialized study areas (majors/extended minors).

  1. Core Creative Industries Units:
    • Introduction to Creative Industries, Creative Enterprise, Innovation and the Creative Industries, Ethics and Professional Practice.
  2. Specialised Study Areas (Examples of Majors/Extended Minors):
    • Acting, Animation, Creative Writing, Dance, Drama, Entertainment Industries, Fashion Communication, Fashion Design, Film, Game Design, Journalism, Music, Photography, Public Relations, Sound Design, Visual Arts, or interdisciplinary combinations.
  3. Industry Engagement & Capstone:
    • Opportunities for internships, industry projects, and a culminating capstone experience that integrates learning and demonstrates professional readiness.

Admission Requirements

  • Academic qualifications
    • Successful completion of a recognized secondary education qualification equivalent to the Australian Year 12, with an Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) or equivalent international score that meets QUT’s entry requirements.
    • Specific prerequisite subjects typically include English.
  • Selection Process
    • Admission is primarily based on academic merit. Some specialized majors (e.g., in performance or design) may require additional selection criteria, such as portfolios, auditions, or interviews.

Language Proficiency

  • English language requirements (e.g., IELTS, TOEFL)
    • For international students, demonstrated English language proficiency is required. Acceptable tests include IELTS (Academic) with a minimum overall score of 6.5 (with no band less than 6.0), or TOEFL iBT with a minimum overall score of 79 (with a minimum of 16 in all four components).
