Successful completion of Year 3 allows for an optional exit point with a Bachelor of Clinical Science (Medicine) award.

Years 4 & 5 (Advanced Clinical & MD Completion): These final years involve intensive clinical knowledge and skill development through rotational placements in various specialty and subspecialty medicine areas. These include, but are not limited to, surgery, critical care, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, mental health, general practice, and dedicated rotations focusing on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health services. Entry Criteria

  • Academic qualifications Applicants must have completed a recognised senior secondary school qualification (e.g., NSW Higher School Certificate, International Baccalaureate (IB), GCE A-levels) or higher education study.
    • Minimum ATAR (or equivalent) for 2025 intake (indicative):
      • Non-Greater Western Sydney applicants: 95.50
      • Greater Western Sydney (GWS) applicants: 93.50
      • Rural Entry Admission Scheme (REAS): 91.50
    • Assumed Knowledge: Chemistry.
    • Higher Education Study: Applicants with prior university study will be assessed based on their Grade Point Average (GPA). Specific GPA requirements vary depending on the level and completion status of prior study, with higher GPAs generally required for less completed study.
  • Aptitude Test:
    • Domestic applicants: Must register for and sit the University Clinical Aptitude Test for Australia and New Zealand (UCAT ANZ) in the current application year. UCAT ANZ results from previous sittings are not accepted.
    • International applicants: Must register for and sit the International Students Admissions Test (ISAT). ISAT results are used to rank eligible international applicants.
  • Interview (Multi-Mini-Station Interview – MMI): Selected applicants, based on a combination of academic merit and aptitude test results, will be invited to a Multi-Mini-Station (MMI) interview. This interview critically assesses non-cognitive qualities deemed essential for medical practice, such as communication skills, empathy, ethical reasoning, and critical thinking. Interview performance accounts for a substantial portion (75%) of the final offer decision. Interviews are typically held in late November, and no alternative dates are offered.
  • Application: Domestic applications are typically submitted through the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC). International applicants generally apply directly via the Western Sydney University International Online Application system or through an authorized agent representative.
  • Special Requirements: Successful applicants must meet NSW Health Department requirements for clinical placements, including obtaining a National Police Certificate, completing an Adult Health Immunization Schedule, and signing a Code of Conduct Agreement.
