Course Curriculum
The Bachelor of Nursing curriculum is structured to provide a comprehensive and progressive learning experience, integrating theoretical knowledge with extensive clinical practice.
- Year 1: Foundations of Nursing Practice
- Focuses on fundamental nursing principles, health assessment, communication skills, anatomy and physiology, pharmacology basics, and an introduction to professional nursing. Includes initial clinical placements.
- Year 2: Acute Care & Specialised Practice
- Develops skills in managing acute conditions, mental health nursing, chronic disease management, and specialized areas like pediatrics or aged care. Features extended clinical placements in various settings.
- Year 3: Complex Care & Professional Transition
- Addresses complex health issues, leadership in nursing, research in health, and preparing for professional practice. Includes significant clinical placements that provide exposure to diverse and challenging healthcare environments, including rural/remote opportunities.
- The program requires approximately 1000 hours of supervised clinical practicum across various healthcare settings.
Admission Requirements
- Academic qualifications
- Successful completion of Australian Year 12 (WACE) or equivalent secondary education qualification.
- A minimum ATAR (Australian Tertiary Admission Rank) of 70 (or equivalent).
- Prerequisites: A scaled score of at least 50% in ATAR English, Literature, or English as an Additional Language/Dialect (EALD). Chemistry and Mathematics are highly recommended.
- International equivalent qualifications are assessed on a case-by-case basis (e.g., IB Diploma; GCE A-levels; specific country-based qualifications).
- Other requirements:
- A satisfactory National Police Certificate (NPC) or equivalent criminal record check.
- A satisfactory Working with Children Check (WWCC).
- Up-to-date immunization record as per WA Health requirements.
- First Aid certificate.
- These requirements are mandatory for clinical placements.
Language Proficiency

- For international students, demonstrated English language proficiency is required to meet ANMAC registration standards. Acceptable tests include IELTS (Academic) with a minimum overall score of 7.0, with no individual band score less than 7.0 (or equivalent OET results).
